C.C 2.1.

Everybody has the choice to wake up and start their day off amazingly or horribly. Srinivas Rao states in his article "How To Wake Up Every Morning On Top Of The World," that you should not be filled with stress as soon as you wake up. Am I right?

In this article Srinivas says, "I want you to give some consideration to changing up how you start your day. In addition to power questions I encourage you to start your day in a more peaceful, quiet way then you have in the past." Instead of waking up thinking "Gah, I have school. This sucks," you should be more positive and make the decision to think "Hey, I get to go see my favorite teacher today." The choice is up to you to decide if you're going to have a good outlook on your day.

Srinivas also states in his article, "I encourage you to just enjoy your coffee or breakfast for about 20 minutes. Turning on the TV is one of the most insidious things you can do. The news can have such a negative impact on you that you might not even realize it. The news is generally about everything that’s wrong in the world and this is the first thing you become exposed to in the morning." Instead of viewing all the evil in the world you could just listen to peaceful music. You have the power to choose if you want to sulk around all day from what you watched on the T.V. or you could think about how great your cup of coffee tasted this morning.

Everybody has the choice to wake up and hate the world OR you could wake up and feel amazing throughtout the day. I personally am tired of getting up and dreading going to school. I'm going to make a change in my life and start feeling like I'm on top of the world.

Looters Attack

I think that stealing is morally wrong even if somebody has absolutely nothing, so the looters that completely trashed Troyano's store, should get in major trouble.According to Nydailynews.com, "Troyano said between the flooding and the plundering, his losses were too high to easily calculate." Which means since the looters stole so many things it damaged Troyano's store even more than Hurricane Sandy did.. He won't be about to reopen as soon as he could originally. If anybody could kick a man while he's down and in need of help, they don't deserve any sympathy. A lot of people lost their things, but I'm pretty sure they didn't go around stealing things. Also, according to Nydailynews.com, " The thieves started down Mermaid Avenue Tuesday morning as the chest-high water receded, turning the seaside community known for its hotdogs and tourist attractions into a lawless free-for-all." It would have been lot less painful and easier if people could have just waited until people fixed things up. I don't think it's right to go around destroying things and stealing things from people that have done absolutely no wrong. What if that store was the only business somebody had? It's just not right. People that go around looting and causing a riot, should get in huggggge trouble. The people that got caught doing it, should have to pay back what they stole. When disaster strikes, we should help each other and not destroy each other.

Breast Cancer (Always Have Hope)

Breast cancer affects a lot of people in the world. Last year, before my band teacher left, his mother died of breast cancer. Since her death, he didn't really talk and he was never really happy anymore. For concert band, we played a song called “October” in memory of his mother. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Every year in Little Rock, there's a “race for the cure”. I've done that race for 4 years in a row. Fortunately, some people survive it, like Bethany Fin.
Two years ago Bethany Fin was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. When she found out she said, “They told me I had stage 4 breast cancer. They told me there was little hope. They don't know me.” Breast cancer symptoms vary from lumps to swelling to skin changes. A lot of people with breast cancer have no obvious symptoms at all. It just looks like an infection or a cyst. Bethany Fin went through a lot of treatments and she made it through. There's a chance she may get it again, but she's confident she can fight it all over again and make it. Her husband said, “Before Bethany found out she had breast cancer, we had a lot of problems. We almost got divorced, but once she found out the bad news, I couldn't leave her. Now it's like we're back in high school.” The good thing about this is that even though she was diagnosed with something that affected her life completely, everything is back to normal. She can live her life cancer free!
In a weird way, cancer can be a good thing if you survive it. A lot of the band kids saw the bad side of how cancer can affect somebody. That somebody might not even have it, but somebody they love does. The good side of things is if you actually survive, you know not to take anything for granted. It's like a second chance. I will always support Susan G. Komen's foundtain for finding even more cures for breast cancer. Never give up hope. Hopefully, one day every single cancer will have a cure.

Prank Call to LSU!

East  Baton  Rouge  Parish  Police  received  a  call  at  10:32  a.m.  Monday,  September  17th,  2012  saying  that  there  was  a  bomb  on  campus.  The  university  issued  a  campus  alert  informing all  the  teachers  and  students  to  “Please  evacuate  as  calmly  and quickly  as  possible.”  Students  at  Louisiana  State  University  in  Baton  Rouge  had  to  stay  evacuated  from  campus  Monday  for  over  four  hours  after  the  police  received  this  phone  call  claiming  there  was  a  bomb  on  the  university  grounds.  A  state  police  SWAT  team  got  sent  to  the  Louisiana  State  University  to  help  out  with  evacuations  of  all  the  students  and  teachers.  Sgt.  Len  Marie  said  that  if  they  needed  to  they  would  bring  bomb  dogs  to  the  site.  That  obviously  shows  that  this  situation  was  indeed  very  serious.  When  the  call  was  made  there  was  no  specific  buildings  mentioned.  The  last  text  message  from  school  officials asked  the  students  to “Stay  off  campus  unless  directed  to  return,”  and  to check  the  school  website  for  updates.  The  officials  added  that  the  investigation  was  still  ongoing.
I  find  this  extremely  suspicious  because  last  Friday,  the University  of  Texas  and  North  Dakota  State  University  both  had  to issue  a  campus-wide  alert  after  threats  that turned  out  to be  completely  phony.  I’m  relating  this  phone  call  to  the other  phone  calls  about  campus  bombings.  I’m  going  to  try  to stay  updated  and  see  if  the  news  says  anything  more  about  other  strange  calls  about  bombings.  What  if  a  real  bombing  does  happen?  Why  would  anybody  make  a  call like  that?  It’s  like  somebody  pulling  a  fire  alarm  in  our  school.
This  could  affect  my  future  because  I  am  going  to  be  going  to  college  in  two  years.  What  if  Louisiana  State  University  does  get  bombed?  That  is  the  college  that  I  want  to  go  to.  If  a  bombing  does  happen  that  could  also  cause  even  more issues  in  the United  States.  We  would  probably  go  into  war  and  we  already  have  enough  things  in  the  world  to worry  about.  So  we  can  only  hope  that  this  caller  is  just  insane  or stupid  and  nothing  will actually  happen.

PEE paragraph (WTC)

The reason there are concrete walls with steel reinforcing bars s to make sure that if something bad happens people can be protected. According to the info graphic, they use state of the art concrete used in 1 WTC can withstand almost three times more pressure than the concrete used in most other NYC skyscrapers. Because the buildings got hit by airplanes and collapsed, of course they would build the new one with a stronger structure.

My Reading Bucket List

1. The Cell by Stephen King

This book is about cell phones and how at a certain time everbody with a cell phone is going to die. Since the book is about cell phones and it's written by Stephen King, who is my favorite author, I'll probably enjoy this book greatly. It's also supposed to be a thriller and I love thrillers.

2. Flip by Martyn Bedford

I read a lot of books and I am trying to branch out and read a lot more different things. So the whole plot of this story is about a boy that woke up one morning and he was switched into a completely random body. It seems super cool and intriguing.

3. All These Thing I've Done by Gabrielle Zevin

This is about a girl that is not sure what she's going to do with her life. Since I'm in high school and I am still confused about what I am going to do with my life, I feel like I can connect to this girl. This book might also give me pointers on what I should do.

4. Spellbound by Christopher Pike

This book has a mysterious plot to it. It is about a girl who gets murdered ad her death is extremely strange. Her boyfriend is not entirely truthful about what goes on. Eventually he gets a new girlfriend and she realizes something is going on. Soon she's trying to uncover the mystery and all of his secrets. I want to read this to also find out the secrets.

5. See You Later by Christopher Pike

I absolutely love Christopher Pike. He alwasy has twisted things in his stories. This book is supposed to keep you hanging on every word until the very last page. It is about people coming from the future and helping thier present selves, but the present people have no idea who they are and why these new people are trying to change things in their lives.

6. Hate List by Jennifer Brown

I've always been interested and reading about school shootings. It would be nice to read about how a person handles their boyfriend killing people and how they feel when that happens. I also what to know what they do in the future and how people treat them. Also, I'm in a book club online and the author signed something and sent it to me.

7. Fallen by Lauren Kate

This has things about love and angels in it. The plot is about a girl that has lived many lives and her angel always finds her. The girl doesn't remember her past lives and in the past when she'd find out, she'd die. This time is different though. She doesn't die when she finds out and a lot of things start to happen.

8. Catching Fire by Susan Collins

I loved the first book in this series. I normally always read a whole series if I start it. It is really messed up how people can enjoy watching kids kill other kids. I also want to see if Katniss and Peeta end up together in the end or if they go their separate ways.

9. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

This is about a girl that isn't very social and you find out something real bad happened to her. After I read the reviews, you find out that she was raped at a party so she called the cops and everybody hated her. The plot is how she's trying to move on with her life.

10. Misery by Stephen King

I've seen the movie to this and my friend told me the book is even better. It is about how a lady adores this writer and she decides to make him wreck and kidnap him. After she kidnaps him, she takes care of him until he tries to esacpe. After he did that, she broke his ankle. The whole point of this book is how she wants him to write her a story, but all he wants to do is escape.
