Prank Call to LSU!
East Baton Rouge Parish Police received a call at 10:32 a.m. Monday, September 17th, 2012 saying that there was a bomb on campus. The university issued a campus alert informing all the teachers and students to “Please evacuate as calmly and quickly as possible.” Students at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge had to stay evacuated from campus Monday for over four hours after the police received this phone call claiming there was a bomb on the university grounds. A state police SWAT team got sent to the Louisiana State University to help out with evacuations of all the students and teachers. Sgt. Len Marie said that if they needed to they would bring bomb dogs to the site. That obviously shows that this situation was indeed very serious. When the call was made there was no specific buildings mentioned. The last text message from school officials asked the students to “Stay off campus unless directed to return,” and to check the school website for updates. The officials added that the investigation was still ongoing.
I find this extremely suspicious because last Friday, the University of Texas and North Dakota State University both had to issue a campus-wide alert after threats that turned out to be completely phony. I’m relating this phone call to the other phone calls about campus bombings. I’m going to try to stay updated and see if the news says anything more about other strange calls about bombings. What if a real bombing does happen? Why would anybody make a call like that? It’s like somebody pulling a fire alarm in our school.
This could affect my future because I am going to be going to college in two years. What if Louisiana State University does get bombed? That is the college that I want to go to. If a bombing does happen that could also cause even more issues in the United States. We would probably go into war and we already have enough things in the world to worry about. So we can only hope that this caller is just insane or stupid and nothing will actually happen.
